The first week of my vacation passed. The terrible heat combined with my malfunctioning A/C made me somewhat less productive, but at least now my A/C is back again. Right now I feel much better and willing to start working on things.
Still reading perfbook. Still not even a halfway done with it. I need to pick up the pace.
Wrote a post about guilt in general and my fork of it. There are still some things I’d like to mention, so expect more.
Current streak on Duolingo: 40 days. Finally getting some new words.
Pushed some minor fixes into my guilt fork and the patchutils repository.
Watched a ton of videos about embedded systems. Here are the ones I liked:
How ARM Systems are Booted: An Introduction to the ARM Boot Flow - Rouven Czerwinski. A great talk about various hardware and software systems involved in the boot process of ARM-based devices.
What Does a CPU Do Before Going to Work (in an Embedded System)? - Josef Holzmayr, Mender.io. Another interesting talk, this time about different types of embedded systems and different boot sequences.
An Overview of the Linux and Userspace Graphics Stack, Paul Kocialkowski. A great overview of all compenents that make up the graphics stack on Linux. If you know nothing about this subject and want to learn about it, definitely watch this. I like to think of myself as a person who is pretty well aware of how Linux’s graphics system works, but I managed to find some new information here, particularly about the hardware side of things.
Badass
I’d say it was a pretty good start of my vacation.
